The Woolworths Limited, which was organised in December of 1924, has grown into a household name which present "in almost every metropolitan and regional centre in Australia and New Zealand "(Woolworths Ltd n.d., para. 1). They have 190,000 Woolworths Limited staff around their stores, distribution centres and support offices to provide the exceptional services, products and price to customers.(Woolworths Ltd n.d., para. 1). This report will analyse the evaluation of ethical behaviour and than evaluate Woolworths Limited's financial performance which is profitability based on Return of Equity (ROE) history. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The purpose of this report was to evaluate Woolworths ethical behavior and financial performance to help client who want to invest this company ethically. Firstly, the report analysed the ethical behavior and evaluated the historical profitability of Woolworths from 2008 to 2013. Then, the founding of Woolworths is that on ethical issue, Woolworths did not respect the rights of suppliers and they put pressure on suppliers with brutal demands. On financial issue, the profitability was poor. Specifically, in 2010, the profitability went up dramatically to $11.02 million dollars from 2008 and than dropped by $10.15 million dollars at the end of 2011. After that even though the prices become increase, but the level was still lower. The report concludes that in terms of Woolworths's ethical behavior and financial performance, Woolworths is not suited to investment ethically. It is recommended that Woolworths not an suitable company which suited to ethical investing
