TV's effects in our lives

Topic: “Television has become such an integral part of almost every household in the Western world that it is difficult to imagine life without it. However, many people claim that it can have negative effects on viewers. In your opinion, what are the advantages and disadvantages of watching television? Support your views with examples.”

It is undeniable that the invention of television was a life change in the modern history. It has offered people many advantages by bringing moving images into their homes and now plays a necessary role in their everyday lives. Nevertheless, there are several negative aspects to television that require careful consideration. On the positive side, the benefits of television are numerous. First and foremost, it allows people to keep abreast of current events and virtually witness world history in making. Big stations, like CNN or BBC, have enabled us to be citizens of a global community, providing live satellite coverage of events no matter where they take place. Television also is an unrivalled sours of inexpensive entertainment. It broadcast an incredible variety of shows which can be humorous, entertaining or educational. For example, sitcoms can be so hilarious that can make the audience laugh until they cry, evening series also can be very funny and make the viewers count the minutes until the next episode, and travel show can open a window to the world, allowing people broaden their horizons and expand their knowledge of faraway countries. The best part is that all of this can be accomplished with the comfort of their homes. For many people who fell isolated, such as the elderly, it can keep them company and entertain them with a great amount of nice programs. On the negative side, there are many real dangers of television that one should be aware of.
