There is no doubt in my mind that the first three chapters in the text book “Marriage, family and relationships should be taught in our high school in the home economic classes; along with chapter eleven, “work and family.” These chapters would teach young women and men, that getting married is planning your life together, not how much the wedding will cost. For a successful marriage, perhaps one should set down and write a list of things they want from a marriage, and just what the word its self means. Marriage, (The state of being united to a person of the opposite sex as husband and wife in a consensual and contractual relationship recognized by law.) After finding the definition they should set goals. Many churches have classes in marriage encounters, they offer incite on how to make a commitment to one another, how to see their roll as wife or husband. They let the couples talk about what they want from each other, many self help groups also offer helpful advice on making a relationship work. The first chapter in the text offers much explanation on why some marriages work, and why some do not. Reading the chapter, “marriage relationships and family commitments, choices in a changing society” would enhance their idea on what marriage is all about. This text book might get young couples to seek out there classes and discussions on marriage. Which can only help preserve there marriage? Our text tells us that most people grow up in some from of family and know something about what marriage and family are. Hopefully these personal experience will provide the newly weds to form an idea on what they will put into their marriage to make it work. Chapter two explores relationship inside the family, and how attachments are formed early not just for a married couple but for cohabitation couple too.
